Upcoming Events

Greetings from the Sr. Warden

Lots of activity on Campus (and elsewhere) the last few weeks with Rev. Lisa and new Choir Director Ray Hickman starting, making a few changes here and there, meeting with folks and generally getting ramped up. The energy and enthusiasm is contagious and I feel a renewed presence of the Holy Spirit amongst us. Good things are happening and coming for St. Francis.

As we welcome new things we need to let go of some old.
Our Digital Verger, Kevin has moved on hence we don't have anyone to run the Zoom broadcast anymore. This has given us an opportunity to re-think this Covid legacy.
Many other congregations have stopped doing Zoom, encouraging those participants to return to the community in person.
We have only 3 or 4 Zoom participants as it is most Sundays so the level of effort in managing it is something we feel we need to let go of.
Hence, this Sunday will be out last regular Zoom session. We can still haul it out for special occasions though.

Greetings from the Junior Warden

I got a reminder today about May being Cancer Awareness Month when I learned about a couple of young brothers who are having a Succulent and Soap Sale this weekend in my neighborhood. This struck me for more than one reason. First, that these 11 and 6 year old brothers, were doing a very unselfish and thoughtful act of making products to sell with the pure intention of helping someone else. Cancer hit home when their 11-year old friend had a brain tumor removed and donations will be made to their family. I applaud these two boys and their family for their acts of kindness.
Second, there is not a better time to show your support for those affected by cancer. Many people are closely and deeply affected by the trauma that cancer can bring to one's life. You may know someone who is going through or anticipating treatment, or just lost a loved one. Now is the time to take a moment, make the time to send them a thoughtful card or give them a supportive hug.

Vicarage Cleanup

With Rev Lisa and Ray's arrival we have started a revamp and cleanup of the Vicarage. There are still many boxes and piles of "stuff" from the HUB renovation in various rooms that we need to dispose. If anyone would like to help, has particular feelings about anything or could help us decide what to do with some it, please stop by. Most of the activity will be happening on Sundays and Wednesdays at the Vicarage.

Music Notes

As the Easter season comes to a close and we move into the season of Pentecost, I look forward to getting to know more about music at St. Francis. The choir will be joining with the choir at St. Columba’s Inverness on June 7th at 7:00PM for a beautiful service of meditation and singing Taize music, which is quite beautiful in its own right. We hope you can join us at St. Columba’s. The choir will have a rehearsal break from June through mid-August with no weeknight rehearsals during that time. We will continue to meet on Sunday mornings at 9:00AM for warm ups and service music practice. Beginning this fall the choir will begin rehearsing in earnest to provide Sunday anthems as well as begin working on music for the Feast of St. Francis, Thanksgiving and Christmas. We extend a heartfelt invitation to everyone interested in trying out the ministry of music.

Peace-

Ray

St. Francis Preschool & Pantry Partner Up

During the month of April the Preschool hosted a Diapers & Toiletries Drive supporting the St. Francis Community Pantry and North Marin Community Service. Donation bins were set in front of the Preschool collecting items from families and the community. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the children delivered the donations to the Pantry and filled the empty lockers. We are blessed to have this wonderful partnership!!

We would like to thank the St. Francis Preschool Community for participating in these community outreach drives throughout the year. It is incredible to see our school make such a difference!

Transitus

Curious about why our weekly e-newsletter is called The Transitus? The name comes from the most important feast day in the life of St. Francis, his death on October 3 and his entrance into the joy of our God. This is known as the Transitus, or Journey. Just as Francis was sent into new life, we pray our community worship, events and education help send you into new life - a journey -  as well!
